In large-sized Packed towers, considering importance of uniform liquid distribution and dependence of the efficiency of mass transfer operation to it, and to ensure that the fluid is not channelized even with the use of appropriate packings, installing a redistributor is essential.

It should be noted that the use of redistributor must be carefully, to prevent flooding due to increased pressure drop. Maximum packing height requiring a redistributor, depends to type of packing.
